Mandalay Safe Space

Mandalay, Myanmar

Aung Mental Health Initiative opens Mandalay Safe Space as a new community-based support hub. The space offers mental health and psychosocial support activities, including training for caregivers, psychodrama sessions, and drawing and creative expression workshops. It aims to provide a low-threshold, relationship-centered environment where people can gather, share, and heal together.

Workshops

Training participants include general practitioners, social workers, teachers, and artists, building a multidisciplinary network of local caregivers. Mandalay Safe Space also hosts psychodrama, drawing and creative expression workshops, and other relationship-centered, low-threshold support activities.

The initiative is carried out in collaboration with Tokyo Soteria members and Prof. Ivonne Donegani from Italy, a leading figure in Mental Health Reform, bringing international expertise in community-based and arts-integrated mental health care.

World Congress of Psychiatry 2025
